The Office of the Regional Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies is functioning under the control of Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Chennai. This office is located at No. 1 Meighnana Street, Palayamkottai. Tirunelveli-627002. The Offices of the Circle Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Tirunelveli, Cheranmahadevi and Tenkasi are functioning in Tirunelveli District under the control of Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Tirunelveli. The Office of the Deputy Registrar (Public Distribution System) is also functioning within the Campus of Regional Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Tirunelveli to supervise the Fair Price Shops running by Cooperatives in Tirunelveli District.

Amma Medicals
The former Honorable Chief Minister of Tamilnadu had announced a scheme to Open Amma Medical Shop through Cooperatives in Tamilnadu. Consequent on the announcement two Amma Medical Shops have been opened at Tirunelveli Junction and Samathanapuram in Tirunelveli District by Tirunelveli District Cooperative Wholesale Stores. They provide Quality Medicines to the Public by giving rebate upto15%
Seven Cooperative Medical Shops have been opened in various places by the following Cooperative Societies in Tirunelveli and Tenkasi combined districts.
- Sankarankovil Cooperative Store.
- Nellai Consumer Cooperative Store.
- Alangulam Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society.
- Parappadi Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society.
- Sivanthipuram Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society.
- Melapalayam Primary Agricultural Cooperative Urban Credit Society
- Tirunelveli District Cooperative Wholesale Stores.
Farm Fresh Consumer Outlets
In order to control the rise in prices of vegetables a Farm Fresh Consumer Outlet is opened at Tirunelveli Junction on 11.1.2016 by Tirunelvlei District Cooperative Wholesale Stores, Tirunelveli. Fresh vegetables are being sold to the consumers at low price by this Farm Fresh Consumer Outlets.
Agri Clinic
Nine Agri Clinics have been opened in various places by the following Cooperative Societies for testing soil and water of the farmers at nominal rate. Technical Suggestions have been given to the farmers to produce more yields by these Agri Clinics.
Common Service Centre
There are 156 Common Service Centers have been opened at various places by the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society and Primary Agricultural Rural Development Banks in Tirunelveli and Tenkasi combined districts . They provide all services like getting Community Certificate, Marriage Assistance Certificate, Income Certificate, Birth and Death Certificates, Nativity Certificate, First Graduation Certificate, Copies of Patta and other documents, Payment of EB Bill, Telephone Bill and Cell Phone Recharge etc., to the general public.
Agro Service Centers
There are 88 Agro Service Centers have been opened by the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies in Tirunelveli and Tenkasi combined districts They give Tractors, Harvesters, Mini Tractors, Planters, Power Sprayers, and Tillers etc. to the farmers on rent basis.
PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
In Tirunelveli and Tenkasi combined districts, 807 Full Time Fair Price Shops and 377 PartTime Fair Price Shops are run by the Cooperative Societies. They distribute Essential Commodities like Rice, Sugar, Wheat, and Kerosene to the card holders. They also distribute Spl. PDS Commodities like Pulses and Palm Oil to the card holders at low price through Fair Price Shops.
THE AIM OF THE PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
- To give Food Safety to Poor and Below Poverty Line (BPL) People by providing Essential Commodities.
- To help the Hill tribal by providing essential commodities through nearby Fair Price Shops or Mobile Fair Price Shops at their places.
- To control the Price hike of Essential Commodities and Special PDS Commodities in open market.
